Installation
Accompanied with assistants, Gilliam creates Custom Road Slide (1977) a series of four- teen ephemeral outdoor ‘constructions’ of fabric, wood, shale and pigment, placed along 400 yards of roadway lining the Niagara Gorge.

Here, Gilliam works on Custom Road Slide during installation at Artpark in Lewiston, New York. During installation, Gilliam’s children, Stephanie and Melissa, would join Gilliam in Upstate New York to assist him on site.
